The CoaDATA 501, 2001 and 4001 are economic, semi-automated, coagulation analysers capable of measuring PT, aPTT, Fibrinogen, TCT, and Factor Assays. Designed for the smaller routine laboratory or as back-up to more automated analysers, these units are compact, simple to use and can be controlled by a pre-programmed Chip Card with test specific data.
Principle of Operation: Turbidometric Detection
A light beam passes through the cuvette containing the test sample to a photodetector. Any change in the intensity of the transmitted light due to the formation of the clot is registered as an electrical signal. The lamp intensity is automatically adjusted up or down depending on the turbidity of the sample. This measurement principle is especially suited to lipemic and/or icteric coloured samples as well as reagents using kaolin. A mixer located in the cuvette which ensures plasma reagent homogeneity and at the same time produces a small vortex in the cuvette which ensures even the smallest fibrin clot is formed in front of the photodetector.
Keypad and display.
The unit is operated by following the prompts as they appear on the liquid crystal display (CD2001/4001=two lines with
20 digits each, CD 501=one line with 8 digits) using the membrane keypad on the control panel. Test settings are preprogrammed into the unit but can be easily changed if necessary.
Memory and Calibration
Up to 7 test methods can be stored in memory and up to a maximum of 9 measurement points per calibration curve can
be stored.
Micro-cuvette, Micro-volumes
By using a uniquely designed micro-cuvette, a minimum reaction volume of 150μl can be used thereby maximising the use of reagents.
Auto Measurement Start
Once the instrument has adjusted the photo-optical detection system to suit the sample, the instrument prompts the user to add a suitable volume of reagent. The sophisticated detection system detects the addition of reagent and commences the timing process.
Chip Card (memory card)
This feature allows loading and storing of test specific data for PT, aPTT, TCT, Fibrinogen, e.g. lot number or calibration
data (multi-point or individual values) from a smart card.
